Today I wrote a short essay on Design*Sponge (link in profile above) about how I've been feeling about language online in light of the recent - and ongoing- death, heartache and pain in our country and around the world. I'm talking from my perspective, owning up to moments when I could have been more mindful in my word choice and inviting all of you to share moments when you've felt the same way or your personal stories related to words and how they can make you feel online. My goal here is not to judge anyone's right to free speech, but rather to open a dialogue about the ways more mindful and careful word choice can foster a greater sense of discussion, community and healing.
