Without preservation in 1892, the forests of the Adirondack park might be a distant memory. Thanks to the early vision of New York state’s conservationists, this wild zone remains a refuge—including the well-trodden path to the state’s highest peak 5,343-foot Mt. Marcy. @mountain.maddie and @melissaarnot appreciate the efforts and the view yesterday en rout to summit 24.
