“We know that suffering produces perseverance. Perseverance, character and character, hope,” said President Barack Obama, referencing scripture, at a memorial service for the five police officers killed in an ambush in Dallas last week. “Right now those words are tested because the people of Dallas, people across the country are suffering.” President Obama was joined by First Lady Michelle Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden, as well as former President George W. Bush and former First Lady Laura Bush.
