I have a heavy heart right now. There has been so much killing in the past few weeks #Orlando, #Istanbul, #Bangladesh, #Baghdad, #SaintPaul, #BatonRouge, #Dallas. The names just pile up in a blur of news reports and social media shout outs. I wrote the song #SameAsItEverWas after the #EricGarner killing to say "There's gotta be a better way", than the way our nation is conducting itself right now. In times of great challenge we need to move closer together rather than further apart. Right now I'm calling out to all of us who care about #peace, #nonviolence, #humanrights and #equality to raise our voices for #justice, #empathy and #humanity during this time of great pain on our planet. #Peace is the accumulation of millions of people, in millions of places, doing millions of small good things. Right now more than ever we need to reach out to each other and find ways to do better than the way we are. I know there are more caring people in the world than there are hateful ones, be they civilians, police, soldiers, Democrat, Republican, Christian, Jewish, Moslem, Hindu, Atheist, Gay, Straight, Transgender, woman and man, all cultures and colors. We are all #Earthlings and we are all in this together. When pain or inequality is brought onto one of us, it is brought onto us all. Now is a time to put the brakes on the divisiveness and move toward one another, to grieve, to unite and raise our voices as #ONE for peace, justice and a new way of being. We need to hit the #reset button hard and fast. Stop killing. Seriously. Stop killing. We can and will do better than this!!! We will find a better way!!! #powertothepeaceful #soulrocker.
