Edesi and her nephew Regison, 7 months, check Regison's nutritional status at a health centre in #Malawi while waiting for an Outpatient Therapeutic Programme session to start. Regison was last breastfed when he was three months old, and is currently suffering from severe acute malnutrition. His mother suffered mental problems so Regison was taken in his aunt, but his condition has continued to deteriorate because his aunt does not have food to complement his medication. “I would really like him to improve, that’s why I have listened to the doctor’s advice,” says Edesi. “However, this means I will be away from home and my other children will suffer if I don’t return in good time to fend for them.” © UNICEF/UN022636/Chikondi
