Decided That Enough Is Enough It's time to end gun violence now, because other countries do not have this chronic problem. What we are doing is not working and it's time to create a new system that works for everyone but prevents severely mentally ill and those on the terrorist watch list from being able to to harm numerous people at time. I am pro responsible gun ownership. This is common sense and I'm sick of these horrible shootings being the new normal. We can do better and it's time to no longer blame our past and instead focus on solutions and take action. Join me in helping create this change. In the wake of recent, tragic events, I’m reaching out to you today. The White House, individuals and advocacy groups are looking to empower Americans to stage a digital protest against gun violence in the United States. Unlike traditional protests, though, this one will take place on Facebook. We will do this by utilizing a Facebook feature and encouraging people to share: a "Life Event" update. However, unlike a typical Life Event update (announcing a marriage or a new baby, for example), this will be an update with a message calling to reduce gun violence. As part of this effort, we are inviting individuals—those that I know have been affected by or feel strongly about the issue of gun violence—to help kick things off. (THAT MEANS YOU.) Already, organizations and individuals across the country have committed to create Life Events. You can, too. Just follow the simple set of instructions below to join in. In an effort to get this moving quickly—at a time when a desire to really move forward on this issue is at an all-time high—we’d like to kick off these posts tonight, any time between 5 and 7 PM, but continuing into the days that follow, as well. Nothing has been more frustrating to President Obama than Congress’s unwillingness to act on common-sense steps to reduce gun violence.
