Sheep ran along a road on the border between the United Kingdom and Ireland this week, where the photographer Andrew Testa was working on #nytassignment. Today, there's little sign of the border, which was once controlled by military checkpoints. But as Britain prepares to vote on whether they will exit the European Union next week, that could change. If a British exit (#Brexit) were to occur, Ireland would remain part of the EU. Customs posts could spring up again, as could some form of immigration controls. In Northern Ireland, which remained part of the UK after Ireland became independent nearly a century ago, the prospect of pulling out of the EU has provoked fierce debate.
