As I've mentioned in previous reviews, the current flagship Avengers title has a really fun dynamic with the team being made up of veteran marvel heroes, as well as (literal) children.

In the pages of Waid's Avengers this is played up for fun and humour, but in this Civil War branded issue of Nova we see just what it's actually like to be a kid playing in the big leagues - and it's not all it's cracked up to be.

Sure Nova gets invited to the dinner parties, but he doesn't get sit at the grown up table, he doesn't get invited to the important meetings, and he's still going to have to explain himself to his mother when he gets home late.

Sean Ryan does a great job with this issue (and the series in general), and so far this has been my favourite Civil War tie-in - finding a balance between connection the main events, while not re-treading ground covered elsewhere or even requiring you to have read anything else.

This issue gets 4 out of 5 (literal) children.
