Jo Cox, a été blessée par balle jeudi après-midi à Birstall, près de Leeds, dans le nord de l’Angleterre, près de la bibliothèque où elle tenait régulièrement des permanences. La députée travailliste a été touchée avant de s’effondrer, selon un témoin cité par l’agence Press Association.
Les camps militant pour et contre le maintien du Royaume-Uni dans l’Union européenne ont tous les deux suspendu leur campagne jeudi 16 juin, une semaine avant le référendum, après cette agression.
