Scrolling through @angelalevitan's Instagram, you might notice a sort of
theme. Dark silhouettes framed by bright, often neon, lights pop up with frequency, announcing the L.A. photographer's dedication to her other passion: music. "My life pretty much revolves around music and photography," the 17-year-old says. "I have a ridiculous vinyl collection (everything from Television to the 'Saturday Night Fever' soundtrack) that I hold very dear to my heart. Some of the best moments of my life have been at concerts." Luckily, she easily weaves her two loves together, letting her auditory tastes inform her photography (it's no coincidence that she cites music and fashion from the '70s and '80s as an inspiration before describing her work as "nostalgic, vibrant, and imaginative"). And someday she hopes to truly make her two biggest interests one. "My dream situation would be to go on tour with an artist and capture all the crazy moments that come along with going on the road," Angela says.

And photography isn't just a way for her to get in touch with her musical side. "I have been suffering from severe migraines for about 10 years,"
she says. "It mostly radiates from my eyes, so I find that going out and taking photos can be somewhat therapeutic and get my mind off of the
pain." To Angela, #GirlGaze is about giving talented female photographers the respect they've often been denied. To me, it means that we have a platform just for us, where our work isn't constantly compared to males'. There are so many young, talented female photographers out there right now that need more recognition." - words by @hannamariehoward.
