Growing up my parents made sure that music was an important factor in my life. I was taught what real music sounded like, who created what and how they did it. There was never any form of a boundary when it came to creativity and expressing yourself through music in my house. My parents loved everyone from Donny Hathaway, Bjork, The Cardigans all the way to Phyllis Hyman. I personally discovered a group on YouTube at 14 called #DeeeLite and my whole world opened up to so much. The lead singer had her own identity and know as #ladymisskier . She graced the covers of vogue all was the muse of so many designers from Mugler to Pucci. Almost everything we see created today that is related to most things eccentric comes from her being so experimental. Well I got the privilege to meet a legend and it made such an impact on me because I was so excited and she had the crowd jumping and all of the young kids kept asking me " Who is she?' And I replied "She is the reason most Pop Diva"s exist today and they don't even know it. She is the reason you get to be weird without having to explain yourself'. It's people Lady Miss Kier, Grace Jones and Earth Wind & Fire that never fully get the credit for making the world so colorful and I want to use my platform to educate the youth because we do too much posting today and not enough educating. . .
