Jan, 16 from the #Philippines, checks her phone after class in the city of #Cebu. After losing her grandfather, combined with the pressures of being a teenager, Jan battled depression and was a victim of cyberbullying. She turned to the Internet for help and found out about a ‘cutting,’ a form of self-injury, described in the post she read as an ‘effective way to deal with pain.’ Jan tried to take her own life, and eventually sought help from a #UNICEF-supported programme on CyberSafety providing guidance and training in social media.
