My mom had her first radio interview in her native tongue (Cantonese) at Sing Tao radio today about my upbringing and how she reacted when I told her that I wanted to go into the arts. She didn't flinch once and was so eloquent I might have to bring her to all my interviews. Mama Shum also gave advice to parents who might be wary of having their kids pursue the arts. My parents have defied the stereotypes of Asian parents while staying true to who they are and where they came from.
