When someone says "Fall seven times, stand up eight", I'm not quite sure they mean it literally, but in the last four years, I've had to stand up more times than I'd like to count. There were so many emotions to not qualifying for Rio.. Heartbreak: not being able to wear the silver fern at the Olympics in Rio and express myself fully under the ultimate pressure. Frustration: after everything I had been through to even be at the World Champs, facing another injury was extremely frustrating. Appreciation: to everyone that had supported me on my journey, through thick and thin, the good times and the bad, believed in me no matter what and helped me be as ready as I possibly could be at every step of the way. Love: from fellow competitors, supporters, sponsors, family, friends. To have the respect from fellow competitors truly meant a lot and added to the emotion of the moment! Nervous and excited: for what the future may bring. I might not be going to Rio, but who knows where this path may take me - my eyes are open to the opportunities and making the most of the situation. Proud: that I gave it everything... At the end of the day, I gave it everything - through every set back, through every adversity challenge, the doubts and the fears, I got back up and trained as hard as I could. In the last 6 months, I have been the fastest & strongest I've ever been. I know I gave it absolutely everything I had and that makes me so proud (even through all the hurt)! Now, I have the opportunity to prove that I do BMX because I truly love it. I can't wait to do some #whipwednesday's and play on my bike. The last few years have been a crazy ride and I am a stronger person for it! Lastly, I wish all the qualified BMX athletes and the entire New Zealand Olympic Team all the very best for the Olympic Games in Rio. I will be watching and cheering and supporting and hope that every single one of you can give 100% of what you are capable of.
