? Endangered wood turtles don’t put all their eggs in one basket. They can have up to 10 hatchlings a year for more than 50 years. But wood turtles are most vulnerable to predation when they are hatchlings. Adults on the other hand don’t have any natural predators. Humans are their biggest threats. Poaching, pollution, lawnmowers, hay balers, and cars are hurting wood turtle populations, but our scientists with Virginia Working Landscapes are working to save them. ? #WorldTurtleDay
