The Notorious B.I.G. (real name, Christopher Wallace) was born on this day in 1972. The mammoth-sized rapper (6 feet 3 inches and close to 300 pounds) died at the age of 24 on March 9th, 1997. #BiggieSmalls, as he was also known, released just one album in his lifetime, ‘Ready to Die.’ Wallace would not attain true iconic status until after his murder. By the time his second album, the sprawling, double-CD ‘Life After Death,’ hit stores three weeks later, Wallace — like his rival #TupacShakur before him — had become a rap martyr.
