"This is Rebecca, reporting to you live from @currumbinsanctuary" - This cheerful rainbow lorikeet doesn't only look great on camera, her species is actually the reason that this wildlife park at @visitgoldcoast was founded. The heritage-listed attraction started out as a bird sanctuary, to prevent the local lorikeet population from munching on the plants in the former Currumbin Tea Gardens. Fast forward to 2016 and #CurrumbinSanctuary is now renowned for its huge flocks of free-flying wild rainbow lorikeets, which come to the sanctuary daily to be fed by staff and visitors.
