This week's content creator is the talented @13thwitness. Here is his story: "I was born and raised in New York. After high school I moved to Japan, a move that was supposed to be for six months but turned into four years. The photography thing happened by accident for me. While I was living in Tokyo, friends at home would ask how Japan was and I realized that telling people didn't do the job. I started taking pictures and I created a website to use as my platform for sharing them. But it wasn't until I came back to New York that I decided that photography was what I wanted to do with my life. It wasn't until I did a job in San Francisco a couple of years ago that a friend told me about this app called @instagram. In the beginning, I featured a lot of street and landscape photography, it wasn't just about going out and taking photos, it was more just me documenting my life. Before @instagram, I was using my camera but then I started to primarily use my iPhone. Of the photographers I knew on @instagram, there was this level playing field, we were all using the same app on the same phone--we were all taking pictures with the same tools. But soon I saw people using cameras again so I started to shoot properly and things just took off from there. I like to photograph whatever's around me. I shoot the city, the street--whatever catches my eye, I don't discriminate. For the most part, it's about me being somewhere and I'm going to shoot it, rather than seeking it out. When I try to plan to go somewhere for a shot, it doesn't feel natural. The best stuff happens when you don't really expect it. For me, my inspiration is my father. He was a graffiti artist in the city. My inspiration has always come from living in New York City, and also from music, movies and seeing new places. I want to motivate my followers to pick up the camera and show them that anybody can do this. You just need to be determined and have the drive to go out and do it. @instagram has offered me a chance to travel to places, see new things and meet a lot of great people. It's not necessarily where you go or how you go, but how you're seeing it. Our perceptive on things is what separates us."
