#MovementMondays Meet two ladies that grace your screen weekly! Karla Souza, is a Mexican Actress currently rocking out on How to Get Away With Murder. Playing a young Law student, Karla is not only breaking down stereotypes but exposes this country to the many facets of what makes up a Latina. We can support Karla with the recent release of her film Que Culpa Tiene El Niño. In a recent study released on Latinos in Film only 5.2% of speaking roles are Latino. This blows my mind as there are over 55 million Latinos living in this country. And lord knows you can't stop me from talking so ideally we can continue to support films like Karla's so that we may see the growth in that percentage. I believe we are doing it and it will only start reflecting more on screen. Next up, my beautiful friend Aimee Garcia, a Puerto Rican/Mexican American Actress who I have had the pleasure of filming a tiny indie years ago called Go For It. Today, you can catch Aimee in the new hit show Rush Hour! Aimee has been doing great work for years now, with hit shows like Dexter, Aimee is no stranger to great television and continues to break barriers in each role she takes on. These ladies not only empower me as a woman of color in the entertainment world but as a WOMAN in life. They are strong, loving, talented and help make this industry that much more diverse and brilliant! Bravo ladies! #MovementMondays
