I apologize in advance for showing this graphic video but turning our heads the other way or remaining mute on this issue is not going to solve the problem. Every year between 10 and 20 million dogs are killed in China. On June 20, the city of Yulin in the Guangzi province of China will hold its annual dog meat eating festival where it is estimated up to 10,000 dogs will be slaughtered. As you can see in this video, this helpless dog is hung and then burned alive because it is believed that the adrenaline produced by the animals’ pain and fear makes their meat taste better. Consuming dog meat is the norm in Yulin and other parts of China. Similar to how consuming chicken, pork or beef is considered the norm in other parts of the world. Personally, I believe neither is normal. Before you judge these people in Yulin, I ask that you critically think about your own choices when it comes to what meat you consume for food. An animal is an animal. And no animal needs to be destroyed for food. None. It's 2016. It's time for us to evolve. Please #GoVegan and please speak up and speak loud for those that can't speak for themselves. Animals need us.
