“Where I live is pretty upscale for a black neighborhood, and still there are a lot of potholes and we have to wait 3 or 4 years to get them fixed. We still don’t get plowed. Police harass you for no reason at all, but if you call the police they don’t come.” — Carl Hill, 62, lives in Chatham, on Chicago’s South Side
A recent @ニューヨーク・タイムズ poll found that residents of the third-largest city in the U.S. are deeply divided by race, class and neighborhood. They don’t trust the police and they’re afraid of the growing rate of violent crime. They’re also united chiefly in their disapproval of the mayor’s performance and their conviction that the city is headed down the wrong track. This #nytweekender, we’re sharing scenes from #Chicago by the photographer @alyssaschukar. Visit the link in our profile to learn about more results from the poll.
