Happy 51st birthday to Norman Whiteside! The attacking midfielder began his professional career at Manchester United at the age of 17 and quickly became a key member of the side. In 1989 he was sold to Everton. However, he retired from playing two years later, aged only 26, due to a knee injury. Whiteside holds records as the youngest player to take part in a FIFA World Cup and the youngest player to score a senior goal for Manchester United. Winning 38 caps for Northern Ireland, he played at the 1982 and 1986 World Cups.
