Watford 1-1 Villa – HT: It’s all-square at Vicarage Road after Aimen Abdi struck in first-half stoppage time to cancel out Ciaran Clark’s opener. Clark gave Villa the lead, timing his run perfectly to head Ashley Westwood’s corner across Watford keeper Heurelho Gomes. The visitors had to soak up some early pressure, with Mark Bunn using his legs to deny Odion Ighalo and Troy Deeney heading a Jose Manuel Jurado cross off target. Bunn’s crossbar was also rattled by Ben Watson, who unleashed a spectacular volley from 25 yards. But Villa grew in confidence after Clark’s deadlock-breaker. Jordan Ayew almost doubled the lead just before the break, striking the post with a diving header from Aly Cissokho’s pinpoint cross.
