Sir Alf Ramsey, the man who led the #ThreeLions to #WorldCup glory, passed away 17 years ago today.

Ramsey managed #England between 1963 and 1974, having won 32 caps for the country as a player during a five-year period after the Second World War.

Sir Alf previously played for @サウサンプトンFC and @トッテナム・ホットスパーFC, and managed @official_itfc and @bcfcofficial either side of coaching his nation.

Ramsey, who was born in Dagenham in 1920, passed away on 28 April 1999 at the age of 79 and was laid to rest in Ipswich. He remains the only manager to guide England to a major trophy.
