Upon returning from my two month road trip, it struck me that life just keeps moving. Nothing is where I left it, (or where it goes;) And a ton of #growth had taken place, both in the yard and in my children. Although physical #separation from family can be difficult, it was really good for all three of us. There’s something about space that allows one’s #innervoice to emerge, giving life to the truer you, the one who has been a bit buried beneath the daily grind, and confined by the parameters of #relationships established years ago and perhaps in need of an update. And right now, all three of us are ready for that transition. Life is a growing breathing thing. The only mandate is #expansion. Tethering to anything or anyONE with an unpliable leash is a design flaw. For in the least it will become tattered and worn and then mostly likely it will break. As with the roots of a tree growing up through the sidewalk, growth must be accommodated if the sidewalk and the tree are to thrive rather than just #survive. All three of us choose to thrive. One of the most incredible things for me about this #journey I’ve been on since the Fall, is my children’s response and reaction to it. As my children, one would think they’d have been worried for me, or frightened of being without physical access to me. But the truth is, they were excited for me. They saw me as this #creative person, full of life and #imagination, who had been limited by the responsibilities I took on at such a young age: The responsibilities of a family and household, and an unusually public career with all the extraordinary pressures that come with it. They knew that within that overachieving “get her done” gal was a greater, more powerful voice waiting to be expressed. They knew that deep within, something was calling me and it was my time to freely and completely answer. Join me in reading #thisthingcalledyou over on my blog. @beautifulbynia
