“Growing up in Seattle, where grunge was the thing, I started to rebel by wearing ripped jeans at around 14. My dad would approve my looks before I went to special functions. It got to a point where I said, ‘Dad, this has gone too far, too long. I’m a teenager, I can wear whatever I want!’ He’d say, ‘That’s not a trend! We can afford jeans without holes!’ It’s always an appearance thing with parents.” ?
