Thank you @TIME Magazine for including me amongst the world's 100 most influential individuals. What I love most about sport is it's unique ability to bridge cultures. I hope my presence as a Muslim woman on the United States Olympic Team inspires thoughtful and respectful dialogue that helps us find common ground and shared values. I remember being ostracized because I was different and finding refuge in sports. Let us continue to provide opportunities for women and girls to empower themselves through sport.
