Celebrating #earthday..let's take care of our beautiful planet. Let's do our part!!! #letsrecycleright @recycleacrossamerica @RecycleAcrossAm OUR involvement is so critical: • Recycling is truly in crisis in the U.S., with the closing of more than 200 recycling facilities in California in the last two months alone. The largest recycling hauler in the U.S has closed 25% of their recycling centers in the last year, siting that recycling is not profitable when there is so much contamination. Thousands of inconsistent labels on recycling bins is confusing, making it hard to know what can and perhaps more importantly, what cannot go in the recycling bin. This confusion results in trash being thrown in recycling bins, contaminating the recyclables. And likewise, good recyclable materials are inadvertently ending up going to landfill. • The good news is, the collapse of recycling is completely avoidable – we have a solution, and it works. Just as the transportation industry reacted to the climbing frequency of automobile accidents by standardizing stop signs, we can avoid the catastrophic collapse of recycling by standardizing recycling labels for bins. Standardized labels have been proven do increase recycling by 50 – 100% while reducing contamination to often undetectable levels. • Major brands such as Bank of America, Kiehl’s Since 1859, Whole Foods and others are adopting the standardized labeling system and realizing major improvements in their recycling programs. Thanks to the generous support of our corporate sponsors, Recycle Across America has donated hundreds of thousands of standardized labels to K-12 public schools across the country!
