Tonight is @girlshbo's 2 part finale (one more season after this, rockers!) and so this is a 2 part Instagram, because each of tonight's episodes was directed by people I love very much. Let's start with Alex Karpovsky. I met Karpo 7 years ago at SXSW. It was 10am and he had clearly not slept for whatever sordid reason and I recognized him from his indie mumblecore glory and was like "holy shit it's Alex Karpovsky." My fandom was evident and we made plans to have dinner in New York, which I thought was a date and he certainly did not. My plan was definitely to make out with him and then brag about it to my indie film loving friends, but what happened was so much better: a long term artistic collaboration that has meant the world to me. He's truly my brother, which is why it's really good he didn't accept my bumbling flirtations. No one is funnier or more sensitive or better understands both comedy and pathos. Alex is not just an amazing actor, he's also a great director and I'm so happy we have the chance to show you that in the first episode of the evening. Thanks for the mammaries, Karpo ❤️
