2016 Spring Dance Concert-SILENT SHOUT-Directed and Choreographed by Yusuf Nasir Madness: From fleeting impulses to sequestered desires, it is said that insanity lurks within us all, buried deep to remain hidden from society. Madness, however, takes many forms: AMDA’s Dance Concert Silent Shout celebrates the arbitrary divisions between sanity and insanity, a precarious balance subject to each person’s own whims and interpretations. Addressing a wide variety of social issues, Silent Shout thus aims to resonate with the individual mindset of each viewer, a personalized confrontation of the private, repressed emotions we trap within ourselves.
Set to the eponymous album by Swedish music group The Knife, Silent Shout offers a dynamic dance performance fusing numerous styles, techniques and genres to create a provoking, avante-garde experience.
