From his early obsession with Matchbox toys and model cars as a child, to studying automotive design in high school, and finally, working within the auto industry, Jin Takemura lives and breathes his passion. Now, most of his weekends are spent at various car events around Southern California, while nights and downtime are often spent playing with a model racetrack in his townhouse foyer. Lap after lap, the car settles into a predictable groove under Jin’s steady gaze. “There’s a skill to this,” he says, fiddling with his controller, “to get it to run right. But it’s therapeutic.
