I know when people travel, everyone loves to recommend that "best gelato" spot, or that one café you "just can't miss." I get it, when one has a great experience they want to share that with you to have the same. And while I love taking tips from those who know, I've found some of my best travel memories are just the ones I stumble upon on my own.

@caitran wanted to go home with a great souvenir, and just below our apartment was this handmade mask shop. A family business - the dad made masks, his wife too, and while we sat there and chatted his daughter was busy painting away at the next beautiful piece.
Sure, there are probably plenty of authentic mask makers left in Venice. But after the conversations we shared, my sister and I are walking away with more than just a special mask. A genuine connection made with some locals, thanks to their craft and our interest.

So if you're ever in Venice, you just HAVE to go to this one mask shop near the Santa Maria Formosa. ? Have to!
