“My name is Will and I’m an actor, singer, songwriter, musician, producer & blogger from the South Side of Chicago. I believe the way we play basketball is the sum total of all the experiences we’ve been through. Today, I'm fortunate enough to inspire audiences all across the country. But as an artist and athlete, I’ve had my fair share of adversity. I broke both of my ankles at a playground when I was 5. The bones didn’t heal correctly and to this day, my arches are so low that I’m practically walking, running and jumping off of my ankles. My doctors are shocked that I’m able to do all the jumping and dancing that I do in my performances. They are also amazed to learn that I hoop 3-5 times a week, 3 hours at a time. But I love performing & I love to play ball - because it inspires me. I saw Jordan conquer the flu, admired as Rodman lay his body on the line for every rebound & loose ball and I watched D-Rose combine his natural abilities with hard work to become the youngest NBA MVP ever! Seeing these athletes defy extraordinary circumstances serves as a reminder that I too can defy the odds. The game has taught me so much. As a singer & collaborator, it's taught me lessons in team harmony. As an actor, it helps me better understand the human psyche. As a humanitarian, it reminds me of the value of supporting others for the greater good. As a human being, it’s bonded me with friendships that will last forever. Oh yeah..it's really, really, really fun too! Lol. What's your reason? #ThisIsWhyWePlay" ? Will James Jr. ? Post your story and use #ThisIsWhyWePlay for a chance to be featured! ?
