This is Wendy Powell, who was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer in June 2015. All Wendy wanted was to see her son, Ryan, play again since she missed his last game. So the Orioles, where Ryan works as an Independent League scout, made it happen today. Ryan caught one inning, walked over to his mother and tearfully handed her the bat. The other 14 of these bats will be autographed and auctioned off to various cancer-related charities. (Including an O's one.) The bats are inscribed with both Wendy and Jeff's initials and the phrase "One more game for you, Mom." A moving scene today at the Minor League complex, but none more so than when Wendy stood up out of her wheelchair when her son hit the ball. ❤️ #KCancer #morethanjustagame #reporterlife #springtraining2016 #Orioles
