Every year at Easter The Queen presents special 'Maundy Money' to local pensioners in a UK cathedral or abbey.

The presentation takes place on Maundy Thursday in recognition of the service of elderly people to their community and their church - Yeomen of the Guard carry the Maundy purses into the Service, before they are presented by The Queen.

Today The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, will attend the Royal Maundy Service at St George's Chapel in Windsor, where Her Majesty will distribute money to 90 men and 90 women – one for each of The Queen's 90 years. ? Press Association
