Happy 40th birthday, Alessandro Nesta! Widely considered to be one of the greatest defenders ever, he made over 400 Serie A appearances in a 20-year career spread between Lazio and Milan, winning domestic and European honours with both clubs. Nesta was a member of the Italian national side for a decade from his debut in 1996, earning 78 caps in total. He competed at the 1996 Olympic Football Tournament, three European Championships and three FIFA World Cups, including in the team that won the 2006 World Cup.On 1 September 2015, Nesta was introduced as the first head coach of the newly formed Miami FC, which will begin play in the North American Soccer League in April 2016.
