Check out Ophelie Rondeau’s (@ophelieandthegirls) Instagram and you’ll see that the photographer’s #GirlGaze (Her definition? “No Boys Allowed!”) is most often turned to other girls. The self-professed Belieber — no, seriously, she loves the Biebs — most often uses her art to spotlight the female form. “There are endless ways to photograph women,” she says. “You can never get bored of it.” The 28-year-old, who cites Sandy Kim and Lina Scheynius among her favorite female photogs, came to photography in a way familiar to many of us — she started taking pictures on her phone. “I started developing an interest in photography when the first phones with a built-in camera came out… I was finally able to take photos without having to own a camera,” she says. “I wish I could find the thousands of photos I took with my phones. These photos are like the documentary of my teenhood I will never see.” And though her tech is decidedly modern, some of her other interests are a bit more old school. The Paris native admits to spending hours searching for something you may most often associate with your parents’ basement. “I love videotapes,” Ophelie admits. “I could spend hours in flea markets hoping to find some I don’t already have.” - words by @hannamariehoward This Instagram story is a part of The @GirlGazeProject, celebrating the next generation of female photographers.
