The Photo Ark is an extensive collection of studio portraits documenting nearly 6,000 species so far. The Ark's mission is to showcase the beauty of Earth's biodiversity, and to inspire us to care before these animals disappear forever.
April's issue of National Geographic features 10 different covers photos of Ark animals, a first in the publication's history. The story is available in print on March 29 and you can read it online now. The Ark was also featured on the Today Show this morning.
