"There’s this girl from Chicago, she’s punk rock, has glasses, and can kickflip front board handrails!!!” Those were exact words from @JamieThomas about #MarisaDalSanto after seeing her sponsor tape back in 2007. Like Elissa before her, Marisa broke all molds of what anyone imagined a “girl skater” was supposed to be, then upped the ante of what was possible for a female skating gnarly spots. Her part in Strange World pushed handrail skating to a level that really hasn’t been matched since. Mar always had high standards for herself since she was used to skating with guys like Jon Allie, Pat Burke, and Tommy Sandoval. I remember she was thinking “just” a front board on this rail was lame 'cause so many other tricks had been done there … that’s why she skated it in a line. Whatever Mar, I’m just stoked I got to shoot your photo 'cause I’d have no business being near that rail otherwise. Long live Gnar-Mar!
