Did you know that the very first Artek store was opened at Fabianinkatu 31 in the centre of Helsinki already in 1936? The modern, functionalist space was complemented with furniture, Moroccan carpets, textiles, ceramic objects and green plants. Its neon sign, designed by Alvar Aalto, was quickly established in the urban landscape of the town centre.
