Want to stop yelling? Want to stop scaring your kids with your lethal wrath?

Here's the trick: Keep your emotional "basket" as empty as possible.
It isn't the spilled cereal that actually pushes you over the edge, it's the cereal ON TOP of the irritation, anger, shame, guilt, and worry that you've stored up over time. The sooner you can notice your feelings and acknowledge them ("Wow. I feel super nervous right now.") the less likely they are to stack up over time.
The idea is to build your emotional awareness, just like you would build your muscles, so that you have emotional flexibility and stamina to manage your responses to your child in a way that strengthens the relationship.
Don't worry, we'll revisit this key topic and all its layers again and again. It will become more and more possible for you.
