Villa 1-3 Everton – FT: A trademark header from Rudy Gestede proved to be little more than a consolation as Everton left Villa Park with three points. The Toffees were on the front foot for most of the second half and Brad Guzan dived to his right to keep out a powerful Romelu Lukaku header on 59 minutes. Guzan punched cleared the resulting corner but Lukaku was well placed to turn in Ramiro Funes Mori’s return cross. Ashley Westwood had a couple of half chances for Villa before the hosts finally pulled one back when Jordan Veretout picked out fellow substitute Gestede, who guided a header past Joel Robles.
