What is real R&B? What is real hip hop? In order for either of them to be real do they have to be separated? If it's real does it have to have the same sound it started out with decades ago? Do you have to say the same words, use the same instrumentation, wear the same clothes?
Let me start my answer by saying this whole "what's real" conversation is bullshit and completely hypocritical! What's realer than how you feel? Truly expressing that is realer than anything in this universe no matter how it sounds or what it looks like! I feel like bitter artists, producers, writers, and etc started this argument! When times started to change, as they often do, the people who couldn't keep up labeled the new stuff as "not real". Not real because you can't do it? Not real because you're old?..lol. Everything evolves! My R&B doesn't sound like Marvin Gaye's R&B but it's my real life! It's what's real to me! @brysontiller R&B is not @タイリース・ギブソン R&B but that's what's real to him! That's his real life!. Are you really mad that @クリス・ブラウン can go from a ballad to an urban club record to a four on the floor record with ease and get played on every radio station? What's realer than breaking down every barrier and creating a new standard? A standard that's says music is music! Sing it how you feel it! Rap it how you live it!
