Today was amazing, and hard...I was challenged to keep it together when all I wanted to do was break down and cry. Today my heart was ripped wide open and I was filled with deep sadness, sprinkled with hopefulness and purpose. Today I understood, probably more than in my whole life the importance of traveling far beyond my comfort zone. Congo is a place that needs so much healing, is screaming to be heard. A place where perpetrators of sexual violence need to be held accountable, and the victims of sexual crimes need to be nurtured and cared for. With all this repression and injustice, poverty, and pain there is a strength which exists that is inspiring, and reminds me that anything is possible when you operate from your heart.
These two beautiful souls were my reminder. They are Mama Josephine and Emmanuel Kabangu. They are here doing so much good. Fighting for their beautiful people..I was so grateful to sit and talk with them, see an orphanage and a rape recovery center. My mind was blown. I know my mission has only just begun...tbc..sending so much love XxEmmanuelle
