To Kill A Mockingbird was the book of my childhood. I remember watching the movie in 1996 on a hot summer night in Ontario. I had the flu, and ended up in the hospital a couple hours later. I remember deciding to be Scout Finch, because she was brave. Beyond that night, my childhood self also learned what it meant to be Atticus, who knew that every life was equal and important, despite pressure from the wrong side of history. RIP Harper Lee. Thank you for your gifts.
