I first met @アマンダ・デ・カディネット years ago when she shot me for a story in Italian Elle. It was the first time I had ever been asked my opinion on set. They wanted me to choose what I wore, how I posed, how I had my hair and makeup done. I was so unfamiliar with the concept of actually having my voice heard on a fashion shoot that I didn't know what to say. It was startling, overwhelming, and inspiring to be treated like a human being with thoughts and ideas rather than a mannequin that moves. It helped me come out of my shell on future jobs and feel more comfortable trying new things in front of the camera. Amanda continues to inspire me. She is an amazing role model and example of who and what we can become when we choose to embrace other women, encourage and lift them up, rather than fall into the pits of cattiness and jealousy. Today she and a group of other super accomplished and inspiring women launched @girlgazeproject, a platform devoted to showcasing female photographers. Anyone can be considered for a feature on their Instagram, webpage, in the pages of Teen Vogue (their media partner) or an NYC exhibition in September.
