Le pape François coiffe un sombrero, le chapeau traditionnel du mexique. Le couvre-chef lui a été offert par un journaliste mexicain le 12 février, à bord d'un avion qui emmène le souverain pontif à La Havane. Il se rendra ensuite au Mexique.
