Lovely Chaimu and handsome Kasigau are really enjoying each other's company. Seeing these two today, it's difficult to imagine their traumatic beginnings.

#Chaimu came to @dswt in 2008, after the one-year-old calf was spotted wandering alone. She had wandered over 22 kilometers (14 miles) through drought-ravaged land before teams were able to find and rescue her!
#Kasigau was rescued in 2009 as a two-year-old. After several unsuccessful attempts to join wild herds, the emaciated calf sought human help at a holiday lodge. We're certain that he was a poaching victim because his trunk was maimed by a deep arrow wound.
