SENIOR SUNDAY! A success story from our friends at @susiesseniordogs! Please consider adopting a senior dog next time you are looking to add a dog to your family! "This is Blossom, our rescue Bulldog. My partner and I are students and we live in London, but we were fortunate enough to have a garden in our first home. A month after moving in, we went down to our local rescue, @batterseadogsandcatshome, and asked for the dog that nobody else wanted. We were told she had medical issues that needed a lot of attention, she needed to be the only pet, and that she was nervous and shy. We took her anyway.
In actual fact, since having her, she's been healthy, happy and more importantly she has gained confidence more than we could've imagined. She loves other dogs, and cats, she travels on all public transport and runs in the park like a puppy. She's the perfect dog, and we can't believe she sat in the rescue for six months!
She's 9 this year, and when she wants us to pet her, she lifts her paw in the air like she's asking a teacher. Even though we are young, and would have handled a younger dog with more energy, we knew that those kinds of dogs find homes so easily, and now we can't imagine having anyone else. She spends her retirement sleeping on our bed, meeting other dogs in the park and cuddling us on the sofa like she's been with us forever. It took about a month for her to lose her old fears and habits from the shelter, and even better, she came fully housetrained. The benefits to having an older dog are endless. -Elle"
