Villa 1-0 Norwich – HT: Joleon Lescott put Villa ahead with a header on the stroke of half time. There had been very little separating the two sides at a wet and windy Villa Park until Lescott broke deadlock. Gabby Agbonlahor looked to turn home Leandro Bacuna’s low cross on 11 minutes but his cheeky flick was just wide, while Ashley Westwood and Carles Gil both had efforts charged down. There was a let-off for Villa on the half-hour mark when Russell Martin found Dieumerci Mbokani unmarked but the Norwich forward’s downward header bounced up and over the bar. Mbokani also had a stinging effort punched clear by Mark Bunn. But Lescott opened the scoring seconds before the half-time whistle after meeting Carles Gil’s high, hanging free-kick at the far post. #AVFC #NCFC #AVLNOR
